MV Agusta Dragster 800 revealed

These are the first official images of the new MV Agusta Dragster 800 which cleverly wraps up the 798cc three-cylinder engine with 125bhp in the same chassis but with some new bodywork for a hardcore take on a naked roadster.

The Dragster 800 has been seen a couple of times testing on the roads around the Varese factory in Italy but this is the first time the bike has been seen in completely finished form. It will be going on sale in the middle of 2014 in the UK.

According to MV Agusta the Dragster 800 is about a thrilling ride with a ‘pure essence, pure thrills’ part of its design. Aside from the marketing spiel the Dragster 800 is heavily based on the Brutale 800 sharing a hybrid steel trellis/aluminium alloy plate chassis, fuel tank, suspension, swingarm, exhaust and brakes (although the Dragster has the latest Bosch 9+ ABS system) and of course the three-cylinder engine.

Despite so many of the bikes’ components being shared the Dragster does look significantly different to the Brutale 800 thanks to the chopped off tailpiece and a whopping 200 section rear tyre which makes it appear a lot more aggressive. The Dragster also gets unique footrests and heelguards and also a redesigned front mudguard and light to make sure it looks different to the other models in the MV range.

The bike will be priced around £11,000 when it goes on sale and will be available in two colours; white and a metallic grey with a claimed dry weight of 167kg. Once fuelled and with the other fluids on board this is likely to equate to around 190kg in total kerbweight.
