MCN Readers: “Sack Richard Brunstrom Now!”

1 of 1

Chief constable Richard Brunstrom should be sacked, motorcyclists have voted.

The head of North Wales Police was wrong to show pictures of a headless biker to the press without asking the family’s permission, according to an almost unanimous verdict.

Brunstrom showed the images of Mark Gibney’s fatal crash at a road safety press briefing in April.

Gibney, a 40-year-old father of three, had been riding with no licence and no insurance when he crossed onto the wrong side of the road at excessive speed in North Wales in September 2003.

Brunstrom has insisted he would do the same again despite criticism from the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

He said: “There is nothing unethical and immoral about using the photos in these circumstances.”

But over 80% of readers in our poll disagreed at the time of writing.
