MCN's Brno run finally arrives

MCN Features Editor Andy Downes has finally arrived at Brno, just in time to catch the practice for Sunday’s race.

“We finally arrived in Brno after 1100 miles with conditions varying from 41 degree celcius heat to hailstones as big as gobstoppers! It was me not the Kawasaki Z1000 that was wilting by the time we arrived at our hotel.

“A few beers and a meal were the perfect end to a great day’s riding that saw me hit 163mph on the clock on the derestricted autobahn in Germany – not bad for a naked bike with luggage on.

“A few aches and pains today but it was really nice to ride the Z1000 – the nice torquey motor made the motorway bits fly by.

“We are going to go home a different route – the roads we took through Germany yesterday were full of roadworks and it was really busy. I think every single person with a caravan in Holland was towing it through Germany yesterday.

“The weather is beautiful – scorching hot. Great for a holiday but no good for the WSB riders who are working so hard – don’t envy them a bit.

“Been at the track all day watching qualifying and superpole is about to start – will be awesome to see James Toseland win tomorrow.

“We will be heading back tomorrow evening – not sure how many miles we will be doing but will have to see how we are feeling.”

Andy will be sending back some updates as he returns to England.
