TV chefs Si King and Dave Myers, better known as the Hairy Bikers, are in talks to ride the Paris to Dakar route for 2008.

The pair are contemplating joining a team from Tyneside on the Heroes Legend Rally, an event that follows the route of the official rally raid organised by three-time Dakar winner Hubert Auriol.

King said, “It’s still early days so we’re not sure but we are looking at either taking part in the event itself as part of the team or supporting them in some way.

“There is the potential there that we will record a programme from it. After all that’s what we do…we ride motorbikes to different places and cook food. I think it would be a great opportunity.”

The cooking duo are speaking to Team Avalon, headed by Tyneside pair Billy Ward and Michael Farwell who have entered to raise funds for the RNLI and Riders for Health.
