New motorcycle test safer, says Steve Berry

The new motorcycle test is safer, according to shouty northern berk Steve Berry.

‘Motoring journalist’ Berry took the new test, which replaces the current one from next month, for the BBC Radio 4 programme You and Yours.

He said afterward: “It allows learners to potentially make a mistake in an environment that’s a lot safer for them and for other road users than it would be if they were out on the public highway. Here, if you make a mistake in this car park there’s nothing to hit expect for these tiny little plastic cones. Obviously the last thing you want to do is part company with your machine during your actual motorcycle test.

“But it’s a heck of a lot better than actually hitting a parked car or clipping a kerb out on the public roads.

“And here the instructors themselves are able to make the distinction between a suitable candidate for the motorcycle test and someone who is woefully ill-prepared for it.”

Berry has been branded an ‘idiot’ and a ‘knob’ by MCN forum users over a series of ill-informed radio appearances in which he has attempted to represent motorcyclists.
