Honda has brought the famous Monkey bike back from the dead with a new fuel-injected engine that meets the latest emissions regulations.
Honda has been hard at work trying to get the 49cc four-stroke motor cleaned up – the result is a fully injected and catalised engine that puts out 3.4bhp and will do 282mpg at a constant 19mph (30kph) according to Honda figures.
There will be two versions of the Monkey bike – a standard one and a Limited Edition one which is called the ‘de luxe’ version and gets a chrome plated mudguard and headlight surround.
There are no plans to bring the new Monkey bike into the UK but the models will cost around £2500 in Japan.
