BMW S1000RR face revealed by spy shots

BMW’S S1000RR will have the firm’s trademark asymmetrical headlights, this new spyshot reveals.

The latest picture from a German R1 forum shows a pair of partially disguised bikes testing on German roads last week, and show the front end of the bike for the first time.

BMW’s abstract disguise stickers make clearly defining the S1000RR’s look difficult, but the outline of the headlights are clearly visible where the concealing stickers don’t bridge the gap between the fairing and headlights.

Official pictures of the very first production bikes were carefully staged to reveal the BMW S1000RR’s shape, yet conceal major details. The bike was shown from the left hand side with bodywork, and also without bodywork. The front and right hand side of the final production machine were still unconfirmed – until now.

The large R1-esque headlight seen in the official picture is still evident on the left hand side – the shape of the housing and a single light plus a side light can be seen underneath the sticker. The right hand side headlight however is much smaller and kidney shaped, housing only one projector light.

German riders have also reported that at least one dealer has had a BMW S1000RR to display in a private room to long-standing customers. Orders have already been taken, with delivery of the bike due later this year. BMW is hoping to keep the price within 10% of Japanese rivals, which would mean a price tag under £11,000 based on the R1’s £9999’s list price.
