did a test about 5 yrs ago of a Crescent modified GSXR1000 against several cars, from worst to best: the BMW M3, Porsche GT3, Lamborghini Murcielago, Westfield, and Radical SR3.

In the acceleration test, the bike beat the pants off the cars obviously, and the bike also accelerated to 180mph quicker than a Mac F1 could have.

On track, the bike just pipped the SR3, which I should say is literally a racecar for the street. It sits about 2mm off the ground, has no windscreen, no radio, heater, etc, and you'd have to be mental to drive it down the road everyday.

The track in question was Donington I believe...but I could be wrong. It was in the UK somewhere anyhow.

Anyway, the point is that unless you have a track-prepped car, most bikes will hand cars their arses. Most Ferraris, Lambos, et al., are actually NOT that quick. To wit: Ferraris and Lambos have times in the mid to high 7s at the Nurburgring, whereas cars like the Radical SR8, and the newer Radical, squeeze below the 7 minute mark.

Sooooo, easy win for the bike. Sad though, as they didn't even need a Desmo, a 600 prolly woulda spanked the car. If they were going to get a car tho, the Ferrari is much too tame - they should have gotten a Radical of some sort, otherwise this test is redundant

i've always found these type of shoot-outs interesting - there are so many variable involved and they always throw up surprises.

the super-karts lapping faster than the superstock 1000s as mentioned below is interesting as you wouldnt expect it. PB magazine did a shoot-out between a KTM supermoto race-bike and one of them mental super karts around a kart track. everyone's money was on the kart but the KTM came out the winner. the debate will prob never be settled. though i do think around a very tight track or kart circuit a top supermoto with a pro supermoto rider will out-do anyting on four-wheels, due to pure agility. on youtube i've seen a CRF400 Honda beat an Xbow track car, a YZF-450 out-do a group N Impreza on a tarmac rally stage and a Husky supermoto edge a racing Porsche 911 with slick tyres around a very twist track. so i think overall the bikes seem to have the edge in most shoot-outs i've seen
