glad you pointed that out mate. yes, very well aware, but please refer me to ANY half-rated publication in the world (and especially the uk) who actually rate the r1 as top dog. in this class of supersports, they're all beasts, especially to average joe on the road. buyers will have different reasons for choosing a preference and most will think theirs is the daddy. however, when judging at the highest of standards and the judge is a publication, reasons of the heart will not do. and when a publication is blatently obviously bias, it is only right that readers voice their concern and try to undo the harm the publication has made. those who bought the new r1 and love it, i am very happy for you and hope you enjoy every glance and every mile. nothing against you guys. just please quote your reasons of the heart for your love with the r1, and do not quote mcn stats and write-ups. if you claim to have bought the r1 because it is simply the cream of the crop, you loose my respect as a biker. !

the best Italian and in general European bikes (that incudes the Triumph that has just won sportsbike of the year in MCN) offer performance AND style -there is no reason why you cant have can performance and something that looks good for you money. The Japanese just cant offer both - the Europeans can. And adding to what someone else said on here - the R1 needs all its Asian parts replaced with European ones + Italian team + the ultra talented Ben Spies to win in world SBK. As for BSB the airwaves team now have no serious competiton
