The 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 is so startling, different and advanced that it's immediately clear motorcycling will never be the same again. Watch the video for a quick preview of our Multistrada launch test in Lanzarote.
Check back later this week for the full video report and read the whole story in this week's MCN, on sale Wednesday 3 March 2010.

I'm sure that
its brilliant, full of great technology, etc., etc.,, and for some that will be reason enough for it to be a 'must have'.
However, for many of us, Bikes are about the heart / emotion ruling over brains (otherwise most of us would stick to cars!) and as such I just don't get it - this bike is NOT a looker and the sound of the engine, compared to Triumph's 1050, is frankly weedy (sounds like a sewing machine on a hollow table). So yes; its clever but i think it lacks 'soul'....
I'll now stand by to receive a kicking !

good bike ,,,but
it looks quite good.
But from the point of view of price and utility, I'll choose Tiger.
And if I make much of some kind of romantic adventure spirit (attitude?) and appearance, I'll buy GS or Tenere.
I've ridden TDM past. So off-road equipment will not make sence for me, but I feel GS or Tenere will tickle (or satisfy) my vanity.
So, for me, Mul1200,, no thanks. but for some rider, it is ideal motorcycle. i think.

Clever stuff…
I don't mean the Multi 1200's raft of techno innovations, I mean the fact that it aims to take on BMW's GS without really being off-road capable … 17" front wheel? Road tyres? I think Ducati are (probably correctly) guessing that a lot of GS buyers don't really ride off-road, and the Multi will do what they ACTUALLY want to do better than the Beemer.
And of course it's also an evolution of the previous MultiSTRADA (= road!), which was an all-purpose bike. The real comparison is probably with Suzuki's V-Strom 1000 or the newer Triumph Tigers which have given up all pretensions to off-road capability.
Sounds like I'm dissing the new Multi, but actually I think it'll be hands-down the bike of the year, and it's the only new bike of the last 12 months that I've been really excited by.
