After our first ride of the new Yamaha Super Tenere, we can confirm that Yamaha's new adventure bike has a brilliant engine and is a credible alternative to BMW's popular R1200GS.

Watch the video for action from the world launch, which included 2-days and 620 miles of riding in rain, snow, sunshine and dirt.

I'd like a bike that weighs no more than 550 lbs. (250K), has 17 inch wheels, shaft drive, and hard bags. Unfortunately, my BMW R1150RSA is wearing out and no one, not even BMW makes a sport tourer that meets these specifications anymore. Adventure bikes look interesting only because I'm not interested in a 900 lb. (409K) "touring" bike.

that the market for this kind of bikes is booming is logic beyond any doubt. if the roads are being build in such a way they become undriveable (speed bumps, concrete, and all other crap our retarded politicians are inventing just to find a reason to punish road users), then off course car owners will buy SUV's and motorcyclists this type of bike. i live in belgium now and if you the roads over here.... my back hurts just by driving over all the speed bumps over here. the whole town is blocked because you cannot go any fatsre then 10 without damaging your bike or back. as i said political stupidity is followed by consumer logic. isn't a booming economy not what our idiots in command want?

My opinion on this,anybody who has 13.5 k to spend on a bike,has to be frikin nuts!!

Where on earth are you going to get the time out to play on this tenere,90% wont take it off road,theres an abundance of sport touring/adventure bikes out there.Myself i have tiger 1050 and have been right the way across europe on roads not gravel,and its absolutely superb,and it cost me in 08 7.5k,massive difference here and now in price.Looks a great bike with all the gadgets but dont you think all these gadgets take away the fun factor??...The multistrada will cost the earth if you bin it,but 14k?? come on never worth the money its never worth the extra 6k more than my tiger,never..want an offroad bike buy an off road bike end off story,ditto.
