Q. I can't wait to get out on the roads and start touring but the weather is still pretty chilly and after an hour of riding my fingers are freezing even with my winter gloves. I don't want to ruin the look of my Bonnie by putting heated grips on it so are heated gloves any good? Are they hard to fit?
A. Quite a few people we know rate Gerbing’s heated gloves, such as the T5, which are charged from a 12V battery. They’re a gauntlet-style glove that also seem to hold up well in an accident.
However, for all the fuss of plugging yourself in, have you instead considered wearing undergloves? Oxford Chill Out inner gloves are a pretty good choice, but you may find your fingers get a bit too bulky with two pairs of gloves on them.
The other option is to find a pair of gloves that’ll offer feel for the controls and decent weatherproofing. We really rate the Alpinestars 365 Gore-Tex glove.
