Loris Baz will race at Snetterton despite reports that his season may end prematurely after losing a personal backer.

The Motorpoint Yamaha team he rides for issued a press release today, confirming the Frenchman will race at Snetterton this weekend.

It stated: “The team is remaining focused on the job ahead at Snetterton this weekend, despite continued speculation over the future of one of its riders, Loris Baz.”

Team Boss, Rob McElnea, who teamed up with car supermarket, Motorpoint in March to form the 2011 team for the British Superbikes series, has confirmed Baz will compete in this weekend’s race.

Rob said; “Loris has made his own views clear about his individual sponsorship issues. Losing funding from your personal financial backer unexpectedly, especially mid-way through the season, is not a good position for any rider to be in, and I do feel for him.

“Loris will race for us this weekend at Snetterton and after that, we are hopeful that he will find a resolution to allow him to complete the rest of the season.

“The overall team sponsorship provided by Motorpoint is not affected by Baz’s personal sponsorship situation as it is separate to the funding most riders need to find before they can race for any team in the British Superbikes series.”
