BSB Qualifying: Wet weather cancels qualifying at Thruxton

1 of 1

Torrential rain has led to the cancellation of Saturday’s MCE British Superbike qualifying session at Thruxton with the circuit deemed unsuitable and too dangerous for any track activity.

What started out as drizzle mid-morning got progressively worse and with large puddles forming around the high-speed circuit, particularly on the 140mph+ Village and Church corners, race organisers and marshals were ultimately fighting a losing battle.

Riders representative and reigning British Supersport champions Glen Richards was able to give an independent viewpoint and with all riders unanimous in agreement, qualifying was subsequently cancelled. Therefore, the grid will be formed from the combined free practice times, which were again affected by the weather.

Friday afternoon’s session saw the best conditions and so the front row will be Alex Lowes (Samsung Honda), PJ Jacobsen (Tyco Suzuki), Shane Byrne (Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki) and Josh Brookes (Tyco Suzuki).

Sunday’s forecast is a lot more favourable with dry weather predicted.
