Britten V1000 in action at Brands Hatch

TT legend John Mcguinness fulfilled a lifelong ambition after completing a handful of demo laps onboard the iconic Britten V1000 at Brands Hatch today in the build-up to the sixth round of the MCE British Superbike championship.

The New Zealand built Britten was the brainchild of the late John Britten who designed, fabricated and produced every part of the bike before his untimely death in 1995.

McGuinness said: “I don’t have many words for that bike other than it is just awesome. I saw it at Goodwood last weekend and I spoke to the owner and said I desperately want a go as it is just such an iconic and unique piece of machinery. To do laps at Brands Hatch has been great and I need to thank them for letting me loose on her!”

Twenty time TT winner, McGuinness wasn’t the only racer to get to complete laps onboard the stunning bike as he was joined by Scott Smart.

Smart said: “”It really is such an incredible machine and I could ride it all day here at Brands Hatch. I am looking forward to some more laps tomorrow and Sunday; it really draws a crowd of people here in the pitlane all taking a look because like John said it really is so unique.”
