Indianapolis MotoGP: Lorenzo wins, Rossi and Pedrosa crash

Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo has won the Indianapolis MotoGP race after team-mate Valentino Rossi and fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa crashed out.

Pedrosa crashed out of the lead early on in the race but remounted his Repsol Honda to finish 10th.

World champion Rossi crashed out while in second place behind Lorenzo, but after remounting retired to the pits.

Italian Alex De Angelis surprisingly took the second step on the podium. The podium was rounded off by Nicky Hayden, who was delighted to have finished third at his home race.

Briton James Toseland equalled his best ever MotoGP result in sixth place.
