Colin Edwards doubts James Toseland’s MotoGP future

Colin Edwards has added to the major doubt about James Toseland’s MotoGP future by admitting the British rider is unlikely to be his Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team-mate in 2010.

Edwards has agreed a new one-year deal with the French squad after a series of impressive performances in 2009.

But it remains to be seen whether he will be joined by Toseland, fellow Texan and World Superbike sensation Ben Spies, or one of several other riders vying for a coveted YZR-M1 slot.

But Edwards seemed adamant it wouldn’t be Toseland alongside next season when he told MCN: “It’s still up in the air but I’m pretty much 100 per cent certain it is not the guy who is here now (Toseland). Well 99.9% certain it won’t be but we’ll see.”

Edwards, who shook hands on a new Tech 3 Yamaha deal in Misano earlier this month, added: “I pretty much knowing what I’m doing next year so I’m happy about that. I’m not going anywhere, you guys got to put up with me one more year. I’ve ridden my arse off this year and I’ve put in some good rides and it has been easy to stay motivated.”
