Marco Melandri expects good relationship with Marco Simoncelli

Former MotoGP world championship runner-up Marco Melandri is confident the fact that he will partner another big name Italian star in the same team in 2010 won’t be a major issue.

The former world 250GP champion will line-up alongside Marco Simoncelli in Fausto Gresini’s San Carlo Honda squad.

And the 27-year-old said there would be no clash of personality or resentment, despite Simoncelli having a closer link to HRC than Melandri.

And Melandri said the issue of data sharing was not an issue like at Repsol Honda or Fiat Yamaha because of the big difference in physical stature.

He told MCN: “We have a good relationship with each other. I have a lot of respect for Marco and I think he feels the same about me.

“About sharing information it is not so easy because he is close to being double the size of me so the set-up of the bike will be completely different.

“I don’t care if Marco has a bike closer to the factory bike than me. I can’t change that and I will just get on with my job.”
