Silverstone MotoGP: Stoner sets pace in FP1

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner has ended the first free practice session of the weekend at Silverstone with the fastest time under cloudy skies.

Stoner topped the session with a fastest time of 2’03.748 ahead of San Carlo Honda rider Marco Simoncelli in second. Reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo set the third fastest time.

Valentino Rossi posted the 12th fastest time during his first time around Silverstone on a MotoGP bike.

Brit Cal Crutchlow placed as high as second through out the session, but was pushed down to sixth by the end.
