Le Mans MotoGP: Vinales takes first pole of 2012

Spaniard Maverick Vinales has taken his first pole position of 2012 during a wet qualifying session at the Le Mans circuit today.

Efren Vasquez qualified second, just under one second behind Vinales, with Miguel Oliveira in third.

Current championship leader Sandro Cortese was just one rider who fell early in the session, along with Brit Danny Webb. According to the rules Danny Webb has failed to qualify.

Cortese was eventually able to return to the pits along with his bike and managed to set the sixth fastest time.

Factory KTM rider Danny Kent will start from 17th.
