Guy Martin tests Relentless Suzuki

TT hero Guy Martin completed his first test with the Relentless by TAS Suzuki team at Almeria on Sunday, completing over 90 laps on their 2010 TT superbike.

In bright sunshine and 20-degree temperatures, Martin told MCN: “It’s mega being able to get a rip out before Christmas. I can go into the festive season very happy after this. It was all about tailoring the bike to suit me, and it feels a great motorcycle.

“These TAS boys have so much experience with the GSX-R1000 and worked so hard for me at the test. We tried this offset, that head angle, different shocks and linkages. I’ve never done so many changes. But it was a great experience.

“The Suzuki is mega. I did a PB track test last year and we rode all the superbikes on the same day. To me the Suzuki was the best package and to finally ride the full racing version, well, what can I say?

“It’s just a fantastic package: really strong engine, really good chassis. And we’ve got a good setting now so that when we come back to Spain early next year (Cartagena) we can hit the ground running.”

The test took place ahead of today’s GSX-R600 launch at the circuit, which meant Martin had the track virtually to himself.

He also had a spin on one of the new GSX-R600 road bikes and said: “It’s a good little bike. All the 600s are now very similar but the new Suzuki is definitely a step up, with good top end as well as grunt and some nine kilos shaved off it.

“I can’t wait to ride the race version.”
