Haslam gets first taste of factory BMW at Magny Cours

Leon Haslam has completed his first tentative laps onboard the BMW Motorrad S1000RR at a wet Magny Cours this morning. The 27 year old completed a handful of laps to acquaint himself with the new bike after spending the 2010 season riding the Alstare Suzuki GSXR1000.

Riding Ruben Xaus’ 2010 spec bike the most obvious modification other than foot rest and handlebar position was a large foam block on the tank to push Haslam further back on the bike.

Track action has now stopped and is expected to restart at 13.00 local time. Despite a strong breeze the track is yet to start drying due to sporadic light showers.

New Aprilia signing Noriyuki Haga and Canadian Bret McCormick were the only other riders to venture out on track. Haga did five laps on the RSV4 while McCormick did a string of laps onboard a DFX Ducati.
