The Joan Lascorz tribute helmet worn by Tom Sykes in the final round of the World Superbike Championship has now received a staggering £7600 bid on eBay and the auction doesn’t even end until Saturday.

Following the tragic testing accident at Imola in March, factory Kawasaki rider Joan Lascorz was seriously injured and left paralysed.

Since the accident riders in both WSB and MotoGP have continued to pay tribute to their fallen peer by brandishing dedicated ‘Power for Lascorz’ stickers.

But in Magny Cours, Kawasaki team-mate Tom Sykes took it a step further by having a special one off tribute helmet made which he wore throughout the weekend. The helmet was then put up for auction with all the proceeds going directly to Lascorz.

Since the helmet was listed the auction has gained a huge response and as a result it’s no longer just the helmet that is up for grabs.

The Kawasaki team are offering two, three day passes for a WSB round of the winners choice including full hospitality and garage tour.

In addition Sykes has pledged to donate another piece of his riding kit and Lascorz himself will also donate an item from his own collection.

The winner of the auction will also receive a years subscription to MCN.

To view the auction and make a bid go to ebay and search for Joan Lascorz tribute helmet or search item number – 120997656731.
