Edwards has trouble with birds at Ducati WSB test

Colin Edwards got his first taste of his new Honda VTR SP-2 on Wednesday but spent more time missing the local wildlife than going for fast times.

Former WSB champion Edwards finished the first of four days testing Michelin tyres at Kyalami in South Africa but was more concerned about missing large birds sat on the track.

Edwards said: ” I think I got one clear lap all day – the rest of the time I was keeping an eye out for these big-ass birds that were everywhere.

” These things are almost retarded – they sit in the same place all day with me screaming past and they don’t even move. Unreal.

” At one point I was flying down the Mineshaft and I saw this bird looking at me but there was no way it was moving – so I had to. ”

Edwards was at Kyalami on his own today but will be joined by Ducati’s Troy Bayliss and Ruben Xaus tomorrow and through to Saturday at this official Michelin tyre test.

Daily updates will be posted here with a full report in MCN next Wednesday.
