MotoGP: Infected arm rules Chaz Davies out of Motegi race

A reaction to a tetanus jab has cost Chaz Davies the chance of a Ducati MotoGP ride at Motegi this weekend.

The 20-year-old needed an anti-infection jab after a crash at the final round of the US series last weekend, and it has subsequently reacted and swollen, with doctors saying it is inadvisable to fly or race.

His spot on the D’Antin Ducati bike vacated by sacked Alex Hofmann will be taken by Japanese veteran Shinichi Itoh, who is the official Ducati-Bridgestone test rider and races in the Japanese championship.

Team boss Luis D’Dantin said: “We are very sorry that this had happened, but it is the way with racing.

“We are still looking at trying to get Chaz with us for the three remaining races, so we will know after Motegi.”
