Croft British Superbikes: Kiyo wins race 1

1 of 1

Ryuichi Kiyonari has taken the win in the first British Superbikes race at Croft, while Tom Sykes got his first podium in third.

Jonathan Rea was the man to take the holeshot ahead of pole-sitter Cal Crutchlow, but Kiyonari moved up to second behind his team-mate by the end of the first lap.

Rea managed to hold out to the Japanese rider until lap eight when Kiyo slid underneath him on the final corner as Rea took a wide line.

Lap 11 saw Tom Sykes finally make it past Gregorio Lavilla in to 4th and it took him another 5 laps to find his way past the Suzuki of Cal Crutchlow. Cal tried to make a last lap move on the Stobart Honda rider but he couldn’t make it stick and had to settle for fourth.

Leon Haslam managed to get past his team-mate Lavilla on lap 16 to take fifth with the British rider managing to cope with his injuries better than the Spaniard.
