Kagayama's fitness battle

Yukio Kagayama is fighting to be fit for next weeks Donington Park after dislocating his collarbone and deflating his lung in a sickening crash at Phillip Island at the start of the month.

Kagayama was grounded in Australia for 10 ten days after being ordered not to fly by doctors due to his lung condition, but was able to make it back to Spain to complete last weeks Valencia test.

The Suzuki man rode with a heavily strapped shoulder and was only able to set the 12th fastest time at the two day test.

Kagayama is no stranger to coming back from big injuries and is confident he will be fit enough to race at Donington Park although he admits that the track is one of the most physical on the calendar due to it’s heavy braking nature. He said:

“My big crash at Phillip Island may still be a factor at Donington and things were not 100% at the Valencia tests with my shoulder. But my condition is improving every day so by Donington it should be much better.

“It is a physical track in terms of hard braking from the chicane to the final corner, even if you are 100% fit.”
