Silverstone British Supersport: Kennaugh wins, Richards takes championship

1 of 1

South African Hudson Kennaugh has taken the British Supersport win at Silverstone, but it was not enough as Glen Richards finished fourth to take the championship.

Richards’ team-mate Paul Young got the hole shot from the start with Kennaugh in second. The safety car came out on lap two till the end of lap three.

While the safety car was out Glen Richards took the chance to stay close to Hudson Kennaugh, who he passed on lap five to go second.

Rob Frost was running in fifth position until lap five where he crashed and was unable to restart.

On lap six Hudson Kennaugh re-took second place and on lap eight moved into the lead. Also on lap eight Steve Plater passed Glen Richards to move up to third place.

The top four places stayed the same for the rest of the race. Steve Plater almost gave up third place to Richards during a massive front end slide which Plater managed to save.

Suzuki rider Ian Lowry had an amazing ride to finish sixth after qualifying outside the top 10.
