Indianapolis MotoGP: Eugene Laverty ruled out of 250GP

Irish rider Eugene Laverty has been ruled out of tomorrow’s Indy 250GP after a massive high-side crash in this afternoon’s final qualifying session.

The Blusens Aprilia rider was brought crashing back to earth after he’d claimed a brilliant provisional front row in yesterday’s wet conditions.

Laverty high-sided his production Aprilia and landed heavily on both feet, and medical reports have just confirmed he has suffered a broken big toe on his right foot and a broken bone in his left foot.

The injuries will definitely rule Laverty out of tomorrow’s 250GP in America, but he has insisted that he will be fit to compete in next weekend’s Vallelunga World Supersport round.

Laverty has a deal to replace Fabien Foret on a Yamaha R6 and he said: “I’m in quite a bit of pain but I will definitely be fit for Vallelunga.”

Laverty made his R6 debut in the Donington Park round earlier this month and finished 12th.
