Casey Stoner vows to attack

Reigning world champion Casey Stoner has refused to concede his 2008 title hopes are over as he pledged to go on the attack in the remaining six races.

The Aussie’s crash out of the lead during the Czech Republic GP in Brno gifted Yamaha rival Valentino Rossi a 50-point lead in the series with only a third of the season remaining.

But Stoner has refused to write himself off and ahead of this weekend’s Misano race in San Marino, the 22-year-old told MCN: “We were the one’s chasing. We gave away a 50 point lead earlier in the championship and brought it back 30 points and then lost another five which could have been back to 15 points and made it reachable. I just have to attack every race and close that gap. There are not a lot of races to go and now it has pretty much spoiled it. We could have possibly closed 35 points over four races so with six races left we have to be open-minded and see what happens.”
