With record spectator numbers attending the Cookstown 100; the first Road Race of the season pleased audiences who were wowed with bravado and style as the racing season kicked off in Northern Ireland today (sat 25th April).

With the usual names, Farquar and Dunlop catching the headlines and setting the pace it was easy to see why so many people have a love for this sport. Darren Burns wowed the spectators with a dramatic come-back after injury at the incident at the NW200 last summer which cost Dunlop his life.

Darren has made steady progress in his recovery and silenced all doubters by bring home a 2nd place victory on the 'Track Day Tools' 125cc. Team mate Wayne Hamilton 18, newcomer, also caught the spectators gaze as he finished 5th on the practice on Friday and a glorious first in the 125cc B race on race day.

"Its been an excellent day all round" said David Hamilton team manager of Track Day Tools. "Darren has surpassed everyone's expectations, and we are delighted with Wayne's debut on the roads with a win, we're all very eager to get to the Tandragee next weekend".
