MCN Fleet: Queue-busting Harley-Davidson Street 750

How smug do I feel? I’m sat with a cake and cuppa waiting for my hubby, Mark, to arrive and I’ve already been here for about 40 minutes!

We were going away for the night but needed to come home separately so he took the VW Golf and me the Harley-Davidson Street 750. I needed to fuel up before setting off so we arranged to meet at our destination, about an hour from home. Unbeknown to either of us when we set off, there was a six-mile traffic jam en route, on the A1(M). About a mile in, as I carefully filtered through, I spotted Mark. I gave a cheery toot and wave I glided by.

The Street 750 filtered with ease, being low with quite wide bars I had to be careful about its mirrors catching car mirrors, there were a couple of close shaves but no scrapes. Drivers were mostly accommodating, making way for me and I found it helpful to blip the throttle so the growl of the Remus exhaust could be heard.

It was a good test of my low-speed manoeuvring skills and being able to sneak a crafty cake before Mark arrived made it all the more worthwhile!
