MCN Fleet: Street Twin trip out to Brackley Festival

1 of 17

At the weekend I took the Street Twin on a short 120 mile round trip into Northamptonshire for the annual Brackley Festival of Motorcycling. If you’ve never been to the Brackley Festival you’re seriously missing out.

The town centre event is one of my highlights of the biking calendar and is a smorgasbord of motorcycling. From the custom show to the thrilling classic parade, which takes place in the town’s high street, there’s a lot of biking variety at the family friendly event.

TOP STORIES

Despite the diminutive size of the Street (and my 6ft 4in frame) the bike is just about comfortable enough for 80mph dual carriageway work and with the newly fitted flat bench seat (£255 from the Scrambler Inspiration kit) it means I can slide my bottom rearward, leaning forward in a wind dodging crouch.

Vibes through the bars are just about noticeable but largely due to the Continental TKC80 off-road tyres I’d fitted for the Austin Vince Twin shock trail finder last month rather than any engine vibes. I had intended to refit the OE Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres on my return but I really like the look of the TKC80’s and they’re not as bad on road as I’d feared.

In 2015 Brackley raised a huge amount of cash for the Warwickshire and Northampton Air Ambulance and local charities (nearly £50k in 2015), they’re expecting a similar amount in 2016. So not only is Brackley a great event, you’re doing your bit for some very worthwhile causes.
