Bostrom-style Ducati 998 launched

Ducati chose its first big U.S. rally to unveil its Ben Bostrom replica 998S.

The bike was shown off for the first time at the Ducati Revs America event in Las Vegas.

Bostrom’s helmet design was the inspiration for the look of the 998, which combines Evel Knievel style cues with a World Superbike machine.

The bike doesn’t just boast a groovy paintjob. Every model is signed by Bostrom and it comes with Ohlins forks, rear shock and steering damper and race-style Brembo front brakes. Lashings of carbon-fibre mean that the bike is 24 pounds lighter than the standard 998 at 412lbs (187kgs).

The bad news is that, in honour of Bostrom’s racing number, only 155 have been made, and 154 of them are only available from American dealers at $22,695 (£15,617).

One, the 155th, is up for auction on www.ducati.com, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross Liberty Disaster Fund.
