Video: Silverstone - three months work in under a minute

Silverstone circuit is the new home to MotoGP, WSB and many other famous motorsport events. Recent renovation work has led to a new circuit layout and revised circuit infrastructure, namely the new Stowe Complex. The ongoing project also includes a new Pit Paddock Complex, due for completion in 2011.

The amount of work going into the new Pit Paddock Complex – which shows Silverstone’s continued commitment to promoting world-class motorsport – has been captured on a 56-second video by legendary photographer Patrick Gosling (www.patrickgosling.com). But all is not as it seems… 

The video actually shows the first three months of construction work by a format Gosling describes as Hybrid Time Lapse, whereby the video is actually pieced together from a series of pictures (shot by Digital SLR once every ten minutes). Clever editing in After Effects software allows Gosling to zoom in on subjects and produce panoramic views during the video. Grab the popcorn, sit back and marvel.
