Editor's picks: Triumph Speed Triple 1050

1 of 2

With Triumph unveiling the new-for-2012 Speed Triple R, an uprated and upgraded version of its ever-popular super naked, laden with Ohlins suspension, Brembo Monobloc brakes and lightweight, forged aluminium wheels we cast our eye back to the last of the bug-eye headlight Speed Triples that are on offer at mcnbikesforsale, alongside the 19,000+ motorcycles that are currently for sale.

The original 1050 Speed Triple is a heavy lump, that needs manhandling round corners with its firm, track-capable suspension that provides precise handling but can be harder work on the road. This need to really ride the Speed Triple adds to the appeal for many.

As does the sound and performance supplied by the big 1050cc triple, stolen from the Sprint ST and retuned to make even more torque and provide serious shove between 3000-8000rpm.

It isn’t that comfortable on long rides, but if hard charging cornering and braking are your thing, then the Triumph Speed Triple 1050 delivers a sporty ride that can cope.

Here’s our pick of the Speed Triple 1050s for sale at mcnbikesforsale.com. It’s a 2007 bike in Roulette Green that has covered 3437 miles with two owners. Fitted with an R&G tailtidy, Datatool alarm and headlight cowl, it is on offer for £4999 at Performance Triumph Stratford. View the advert here.
