Thousands of motorists in the UK who buy petrol using bank cards are thought to have lost millions of pounds in an international criminal operation.

Details are thought to have been taken from bank cards when they are skimmed at around 200 of the UK’s 9,500 petrol stations and money withdrawn from the account. Affected areas so far include Peterborough, Nottingham, Leeds, Bristol, Norwich, Hull, Bury St Edmunds and Edinburgh.
