Wet weather leaves '08 bikes un-collected

Scotland’s weather isn’t known for being the most forgiving, but a particularly unpleasant start to March has impacted deliveries of new motorcycles in the country.

Dealers who had geared up for the roll-out of ’08-plate bikes were left scrabbling for space in their showrooms, as owners simply failed to turn up to pick up their new pride and joy.

Martin Rees, boss of Ducati Glasgow, told MCN he had never seen anything like it. “We’ve got two showrooms, and the front one was full of bikes.”

Out of 24 bikes in the showroom, 18 were already sold and just waiting to be picked up, he said. “People just didn’t come to get them because of the weather.”
