Road deaths up for Brunstrom – again

1 of 1

Deaths have doubled on the roads of controversial police chief Richard Brunstrom, nicknamed the Mad Mullah of speed cameras.

Figures just released on North Wales Police’s website show 17 people lost their lives on the region’s roads in the year to August compared to nine the previous year.

It’s the eighth month in a row the force has reported a yearly rise. Figures up to July showed a rise of more than double, from 6 to 13.

The latest report also shows serious and fatal casualties have been rising steadily since 2004.

Brunstrom is famous for his zeal for speed cameras. MCN revealed his force was targeting motorcyclists with a speed trap disguised as a Horse Box.

He also courted controversy by showing pictures of a decapitated motorcyclist at a press conference without asking grieving relatives for permission first.
