Last chance for early Yoshimura GSX-R systems

1 of 1

Almost 25 years since the introduction of the GSX-R moniker, Yoshimura are to produce one last batch of performance full systems for early versions of the GSX-R750 and 1100 this December (2009).

Despite the oil-cooled bikes setting new performance standards at their release, Yoshimura’s close relationship with the Japanese manufacturer spawned a host of aftermarket tuning parts to get the very most from these now iconic and classic machines.

The most popular tuning choice was to fit a Yoshimura full system, simultaneously reducing weight whilst increasing power.

After nearly 25 years, the jigs and dies used to create these exhausts have worn down to a point where Yoshimura feel they can only make one last batch acceptable to its high standards.

The ‘Daytona Special’ system which fits the GSX-750 F/G/H and GSX-R1100 G/H/J weighs only 4.5kg compared to the standard item’s 11.5kg.

The downpipes are constructed from titanium with a stainless steel collector and an aluminium silencer sleeve.

Due to the high costs of titanium and the strength of the yen against the pound, the cost of the system is £1899.45.

Despite this price, the age of the bikes and the amount of active examples constantly reducing, a large community of old GSX-R followers still exists worldwide and it is believed the systems will sell out quickly.
