The Angel ST 180mm and 190mm rear tyres will now feature a white ‘vulcanette’ marking with writing “24H WORLD DURATION RECORD” on the sidewall, commemorating the records set at the Nardò Technical Center earlier this year accomplished with just one set of Angel ST tyres.

On March 15th, fifteen international journalists along with twelve of Pirelli’s own testing staff set the FIM-certified 24-hour World Duration Record aboard a 2009 Suzuki Hayabusa fitted with Pirelli’s new Angel ST, covering a distance of 3190.8 miles at an average speed of 132.9 mph – a real-world mileage equivalent of 7,500 miles at normal speeds of 50-65 mph.

Each participant to the record setting rode for duration of half of an hour (20 min + technical time) during the 24-hour period, making it quite a memorable celebration of the new Angel ST.

Available since January 2009, Angel ST has what Pirelli call a double soul.

This is demonstrated by initial light tread impressions of an Angel, which after around 1000km pass to reveal the permanent tread grooves of a Demon, representing at the same time the double soul of the product – reliable and sporty.

This double soul matches the alternate desires of Sport Tourers, who demand product guaranteeing security and reliability, but do not want to sacrifice the thrill of the curve and the emotion of acceleration.

The Angel ST arrives with three patents on its belt relating to tread pattern design, tyre profile and tread groove shape, giving it the aptitude to match the evolution of new sport touring bikes’ technical needs in terms of handling, power and speed, and maximum safety in all conditions.

The angled tread groove walls and efficient tread groove application gives Angel ST maximize mileage while providing safety in wet through ample water flow and dispersal, even when tyre is significantly worn.

The new Angel ST sport-touring tyre is sold in front tyre sizes 120/70ZR17 and rear tyre sizes 160/60ZR17, 180/55ZR17 and 190/50ZR17, as well as a special (E) version for high-performance sport-touring bikes which have an unloaded weight greater than 240kg.
