Tyre advice: Which tyres for track days and fast road riding?

1 of 1

Q. I’m due a set of tyres on my Suzuki GSX-R1000 K5.

It’s running Bridgestone BT016s at the moment. I am looking for a tyre that grips well in the dry, and is capable of the odd track day.

I was thinking of Pirelli Diablo Corsa 3S or Michelin Pilot Power 2CTs.

I’m not too worried about tyre life.

A. The word on the forum is that if it’s just dry riding and track days then you might be better off with Metzeler Racetecs or Pirelli Diablo Corsa BSBs depending on how fast a rider you are.

Apparently the Pilot Powers snot up too quickly on track. If you aren’t a complete loony then Corsa 3s would probably be your best bet for fast road and track use.

They give great grip and you should manage 2500 to 3000 miles on them unless you ride at 100% all the time.

But be warned, they aren’t great in the wet according to forum members.
