Hislop and Reynolds to test together

Steve Hislop and John Reynolds will ride together this weekend for the first time since they collided at Rockingham last year. That resulted in Hislop crashing to hand Reynolds the title.

This year’s favourites are at Oulton Park on Saturday, giving an early warning of how Reynolds’ GSX-R1000 will compare against Hizzy’s Ducati 998.

The 40-year-old Scot hasn’t been near a bike since the Rockingham incident last September. He was badly injured though claims to be fighting fit now.

He said: ” The fact that other guys have already been out doesn’t bother me.

” Chassis-wise this bike is pretty much the same as last year’s. It will be interesting up against the fours, but I’m happy to be on a Ducati. I still believe we will be the combination to beat. ”

The tuned GSX-Rs and Yamaha R1s are already making more power than Hizzy’s Testastretta-engined 998RS, and that is giving Reynolds real confidence.

He said: ” The Suzuki is a missile. It drives out of the corner like a Ducati and I’m starting to get it steering like a Ducati by altering the geometry. ”
