GP stars go supermoto

Max Biaggi will be among the stars taking part in a supermoto event at the Bologna Motor Show today, Monday December 8.

The ‘Superbikers’ event will pit Biaggi against MotoGP stars Gary McCoy, Troy Bayliss, Loris Capirossi and Carlos Checa. The new Aprilia SXV 4.5 will also be racing, ridden by Manuel Poggiali and Alex De Angelis. The bike will be racing in the world series next year after making its debut at Spa Franchorchamps in November.

Biaggi, meanwhile, has already been practising with a low key supermoto race appearance in Rome. The Honda MotoGP star teamed up with European Supermoto racer Simone Girolami to take part in a two-hour endurance race. The pair led from start to finish, on a Honda CRF 450, beating Italian national supermoto riders in the process.

Who do you think will win the supermoto battle? Will Biaggi’s practise pay off? Or will Bayliss rely on his knowledge of rear-wheel steering on the Ducati Desmosedeci MotoGP bike. Or could the Aprilia claim its first race win? Post your predictions on the Supermoto discussion board by following the link on the right.
