BSB Brands Hatch: Race three results

Leon Camier gave the GSE team their 100th British Superbike victory when he won his third race of the weekend at Brands Hatch on Sunday. The runaway championship leader put in, arguably, his best race of the two days when he came through from 8th place at the end of the first lap and turned Broc Parkes’ 3-second advantage into his own 2.2-second margin. The win completed his hat-trick and also made his own bit of history as it was his 14th win of the year, breaking Niall Mackenzie’s previous best tally of 13 set back in 1997. To make it a truly perfect weekend, the win also extended his title lead to 109.5 points.

Parkes got the perfect start to the 20-lap race and led the field at the end of the first lap with Karl Muggeridge making it an Australian 1-2, Ellison flying the British flag in third. Camier was down in 8th though whilst Sheridan Morais on the second PBM Kawasaki was again outside the top ten after a coming together with Karl Harris as they went into Paddock Hill Bend.

Parkes made full use of the clear track and pulled away from the chasing pack but Camier was carving his way through the field and by the end of lap 4 he was up to second. He then set about clawing back some of the 3-second deficit and, initially, he didn’t seem to be making much impression on the flying Parkes but as the race entered its second half, he began knocking off 4-5 tenths of a second each lap. By lap 14, the difference was just 0.5s and, a lap later, he took the lead at Druids pulling out his own lead as soon as he hit the front.

Further back, Ellison successfully overhauled Easton, who had briefly got through to third, for his best result of the weekend although the pair were some way off the pace being set by Camier and Parkes. John Laverty again impressed on the Buildbase Kawasaki, scything his way through the 4-man dice for fifth although Muggeridge pushed him all the way to the line.

Tommy Hill got the better of Morais for seventh on the run in to the line with Ian Lowry and Michael Rutter completing the top ten.
