Michael Rutter is expected to race injured Sylvain Guintoli’s Worx Suzuki at Thruxton this weekend.

Though neither Rutter nor Worx Suzuki team boss Jack Valentine are prepared to comment on the tie-up, insiders suggest that the deal has been done but is only for the one race. Once Thruxton is over, Valentine will then take a decision on who to replace Guintoli in the long-term.

The Frenchman suffered a badly broken lower right leg when Josh Brookes crashed into him at the Melbourne Loop hairpin during the sighting lap for the first BSB race yesterday. The early prognosis was that he will be out for eight to ten weeks.
The choice of Rutter is an obvious one since he’s the most experienced superbike rider without a full-time ride following his split from the NW200 Yamaha team last week.  He’s also a massive fan of the fast but bumpy Thruxton track.
Rutter also bought a brand new race-prepared GSX-R1000 from Crescent Suzuki last week, the team behind the Worx Suzuki BSB team. He plans to run the bike at the TT over the next fortnight with backing from Bathams Brewery in the West Midlands.
