Walker back in action at Thruxton

Chris Walker will be back on the BSB grid at Thruxton this weekend on the Ray Stringer-prepared Suzuki GSX-R1000 he raced at Brands Hatch.

Walker is still battered and bruised following his second race crash, which also involved Motorpoint Yamaha’s Dan Linfoot, but is ready to do battle over the notorious fast and bumpy Thruxton course.

Stringer told MCN: “We’ll be there, whatever it takes. Chris reckons the bike is one of the best he’s ridden in a while and, even though we don’t have a lot of electronics on the bike, he won’t be too disadvantaged at Thruxton. Traction control is not vital there.”

The Brands crash cost the team dearly, since they are still running the operation on a shoestring until their 2010 season title sponsorship deal is finalised.

Stringer said: “There’s never a good time to crash but we really could have done without Brands crash. The damage was unbelievable.

“Chris was hit one side by Linfoot and then the bike flicked onto the other side and rolled. Anything that stuck out either side of the bike was wiped off.

“It did both mufflers and the two into one section, the sub-frame, squashed the tank, did both footpegs and hangers, each handlebar, plus every bit of bodywork.

“The saving grace was that the clocks were intact. We don’t have any spares!”
