Ian Lowry has today (Friday) been confirmed to ride the second Motorpoint Yamaha for the remainder of the season alongside Dan Linfoot.

Lowry replaces Neil Hodgson who announced his retirement from the sport yesterday (Thursday).

Lowry tested the bike a week ago at Oilton Park and completed a brief test session at Cadwell today during the lunch-break between an open ACU practice day.

Lowry will make his race debut on the bike in the third round of the MCE British Superbike series at Oulton Park during the May Bank Holiday and he told MCN: “I really like the bike.

“They told me the basics of how it is different to other superbikes and I clicked with it straight away.  I love Oulton and while I don’t want to raise any expectations, I’m really looking forward to riding it there.

“This is a perfect opportunity for me and couldn’t have worked out better. I’m still doing the Moto2 thing in Spain.

“There’s only one date clash later in the year so it’s going to be a busy season but I’m the best shape I’ve ever been and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
