BMW teams up with Jentin to run Brogan and Cooper

BMW Motorrad has teamed up with Jentin Racing for an assault on the National Superstock and British Superbike EVO class Championships with the S1000RR superbike.

Jentin Racing-BMW Motorrad will run Richard Cooper in the Metzeler 1000 Superstock national championship, while team-mate, and former National Superstock champion, Steve Brogan will line up on the BSB grid in the all-new Evo class.

BSB Evo is being trialled this year with a view to adopting the regulations across the entire BSB grid in 2011.

The news class, run within the BSB race, restricts bikes to superstock-tuned engines, features a control ECU rule but allows superbike-spec chassis with aftermarket suspension components, swing-arms and brakes.

No stranger to BMW Motorrad, Richard Cooper has a long association with BMW. In 2002, Cooper entered the BMW Boxer Cup, culminating in him winning the ‘Young Star’ title in 2004, at the age of 21.

As well as helping to develop, and compete on, the BMW R1200S Endurance racer, Cooper has raced for the BMW Motorrad Motorsports World Superbike Team, stepping in to replace an injured Ruben Xaus for the German round of the 2009 championship.

Former British Superstock champion, Steve Brogan brings years of experience at the sharp end of racing Superstock machines and Jentin see him as the perfect rider to help develop the EVO class version of the S 1000 RR.

Jentin Racing team boss Bernie Toleman said, “We are certainly extremely pleased to have the direct support of BMW Motorrad UK this season.

“Back last year I started to think about 2010 and which manufacturer would have the most competitive solution for us.

“The all-new BMW S1000RR clearly stood out and, together with the overall specification and its powerful stock motor, it seemed the perfect choice for both Superstock, and the stock engine BSB EVO class.

“With Richard and Steve aboard we have certainly put together a package strong enough to challenge for the respective championships.”
