Oulton Park BSB: Kiyonari takes race one win

1 of 1

Reigning British champion Ryuichi Kiyonari has taken victory in the first race at Oulton Park today.

Kiyonari didn’t get the best of starts and was down the positions in the opening stages of the race, but he quietly moved up the field, taking the lead from Michael Laverty on lap 10.

Laverty again got off to a good start, leading the race quite comfortably ahead of the chasing pack, but once Kiyonari got passed the Irishman dropped back through the field, eventually finishing fifth.

John Hopkins finished in second place on the Samsung Crescent Suzuki after keeping pace with Laverty while he was in the lead. The American though was unable to keep pace with Kiyonari.

Stuart Easton took the final podium position on the MSS Colchester Kawasaki despite running off track on lap eight while trying to pass Hopkins on the brakes in to Hislop’s chicane.

Shane Byrne almost made it two HM Plant Hondas on the podium, but he was unable to pass Stuart Easton on the final lap, settling for fourth place.

Loriz Baz was unable to match the pace which saw him qualify on the front row during and finished eighth.
